DEP has determined that yard waste must be separated from the waste stream for recycling. Trash haulers determine their own monthly leaf and yard waste pick up dates and must inform their customers of the dates. Your hauler may bill you for this service. DEP prefers that yard waste be recycled as compost on your own property as a first option, but if you prefer to dispose of this waste, you must abide by your haulers regular monthly pick up date or drop off your yard waste at the township container (see below). You may not burn leaves or yard waste in Pennsylvania.

Following are the dates given by the major trash haulers operating in West Rockhill Township for leaf/yard waste pick-up this fall:
Waste Management: Last Wednesday of each month
Allied Waste: Fourth Wednesday of each month
ChesMont: November 19 & December 17
Heston Swartley: Third Wednesday of each month

The Township offers a drop off container for residential yard waste on the last Friday of each month, except when a Holiday falls on that day. The service is offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Public Works Building. Yard waste consists of leaves, weeds, brush, branches, etc., dropped off loose or in paper bags. No plastic bags will be accepted.  All branches must be cut up and bundled. No tree stumps, railroad ties, grass clippings, or commercial landscaping waste will be accepted.
