NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the West Rockhill Township Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing and consider for possible adoption an Ordinance establishing a maximum speed limit on all township roads.  Speed limits vary between 15 miles per hour and 35 miles per hour, so residents are encouraged to review the full text copy of the ordinance available at the offices of this newspaper, the Bucks County Law Library, and the Township Offices during normal business hours. A summary of the ordinance is set forth below.  The Board will hold a public hearing on August 16, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. at the West Rockhill Township Building at 1028 Ridge Road, Sellersville, Pennsylvania 18960.    ALL INTERESTED PARTIES ARE INVITED TO ATTEND.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF WEST ROCKHILL TOWNSHIP, BUCKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA ESTABLISHING, AND WHERE APPROPRIATE, RESTATING MAXIMUM SPEED LIMITS FOR MOTOR VEHICLES ON TOWNSHIP ROADS

Preamble

 

            The West Rockhill Township Board of Supervisors, upon the recommendation of the Township Engineer, and pursuant to appropriate engineering and traffic studies, hereby enacts and ordains as follows:

Section One.

            This section provides that words and phrases used in this Ordinance shall have the meaning ascribed to them as set forth in the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code, 75 Pa.C.S. §101 et seq., as amended.

Section Two.

            Maximum speed limits are established or readopted on township streets, and it shall be unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle, on any part of a street where a maximum speed limit applies, at a higher speed than the maximum prescribed for that part of the street.  The ordinance then goes on to list the township roads and streets and designate speed limits between 15 mph and 35 mph.

Section Three.

            The proper authorities of the Township are directed to erect official signs establishing the maximum speed limit on township roads in conformity with the provisions of the Vehicle Code.

Section Four.

            Any person who violates any provision of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine as set forth in the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code at the time of the violation.

Section Five.

            All ordinances, parts or ordinances, and amendments thereto are repealed insofar as they are inconsistent with this Ordinance.

Section Six.  Severability clause.

 

 

Section Seven.

            This Ordinance shall become effective five (5) days after enactment.
